In front of the village is the beach, with thick sand, which is partly exposed to the winds. The western part of the beach, however, is protected by the pier of the small port located there, so the sea is calm and clean. The beach, is slightly organized with umbrellas and sunbeds.

Pacheia Ammos is the longest beach on the northern coast of Ierapetra and has very rich sand in its western part. However, as one walks to the east and after the settlement, the sand gives way to the pebble first and then to large cobbles. Usually in summer, due to "Meltemi" (Wind) it has a wave, but then you can go to the western part.

On the coastal pedestrian street of Pacheia Ammos there are various taverns and cafes as well as rooms for rent.

It is worth walking to the beach of the village and reaching the edge of the port. There is the renovated old customs office, a remnant of the old great commercial port.
